Be explicit about what to keep
If something matters, say so: “keep the current layout, just add a status filter”. Clear instructions prevent unwanted rework.
Roll back if needed
Every build is a version. If a change goes the wrong way, roll back to an earlier version from the workspace and try a different instruction. Nothing is lost.
